  • One man is tall and thin.
  • The other man is short and stout.
  • The tall man asks Mary to marry him.
  • Then the short man asks Mary to marry him.
  • She doesn't know who to choose!
  • So she goes to the medicine woman.
  • "A tall man has asked me to marry him."
  • "What will happen if I marry him?"
  • The medicine woman looks into a dream.
  • "If you marry the tall man, you will have many children."
  • Satisfied, Mary goes home.
  • So Mary marries the tall man.
  • And has many children.
  • Years later, Mary reads that the short man died in a car accident.
  • She thinks, "What would have happened if I had married the short man?"
  • So Mary returns to the medicine woman.
  • "What would have happened if I had married the short man?"
  • The medicine woman looks into a dream.
  • "If you had married the short man, you would have made a lot of money."
  • "But I would have been very angry with you, and never talked to you again!"
  • "Why's that?!?"
  • "Because the short man was MY husband!"
