Summary:

Mary does a lot of shopping... but she's very bad at keeping a hold of what she buys!

This story is designed to get information about "list intonation" -- that distinctive melody people use when listing items.

Is it the same melody in every language? It might be. We don't know! That's what we're trying to find out.
