  • This is Bill.
  • "Honey, can you pick up some things at the store?", asks his wife.
  • "I made you a list."
  • So he goes to the store.
  • And then comes home.
  • "What did you buy?"
  • "I bought a hat, pants, shoes, and gloves."
  • "Those weren't on the list!"
  • "Sorry! I dropped the list along the way."
  • The next day, his wife asks him to go to the store again.
  • She gives him a list.
  • And pins it to his coat.
  • He goes to the store.
  • And comes home again.
  • "What did you buy?", asks his wife.
  • "I bought pants, a shirt, a hat, and shoes."
  • "Those weren't on the list!"
  • "Sorry! The list got soggy and I couldn't read it."
  • The next day, his wife asks him to go to the store again.
  • She puts it in a plastic bag.
  • And pins it to his coat.
  • He goes to the store.
  • And comes home again.
  • He gets home very late!
  • "Honey, I bought everything you wanted."
  • "What did you buy?"
  • "I bought shoes, a hat, socks, and pants."
  • "But why are you so late getting home?"
  • "I dropped my glasses at the store."
  • "And couldn't read the list!"
  • "So I had to go and buy new glasses!"

Story Text:

  1. This is Bill.
  2. "Honey, can you pick up some things at the store?", asks his wife.

  4. So he goes to the store.
  5. And then comes home.
  6. "What did you buy?"

Summary:

Is it the same melody in every language? It might be. We don't know! That's what we're trying to find out.
